Freestyles ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign up using Sign In with Apple, we receive:

• Apple User ID - A unique identifier for authentication
• Email address - Used for account identification (may be hidden via Apple's private relay)
• Name - Optional, only if you choose to share it

Profile Information

You may optionally provide:

• Username and display name
• Biography
• Profile picture

Audio Content

When you create freestyles, we collect:

• Audio recordings - Your freestyle performances
• Transcriptions - Text versions of your recordings generated using on-device speech recognition
• Metadata - Duration, timestamps, titles, and privacy settings you choose

Social Interactions

We collect data about how you interact with content:

• Likes, comments, and saves
• Tags you create or apply

Technical Information

To improve the app and fix issues, we may collect:

• Device model and operating system version
• App version
• Error logs and crash reports

Usage Data and Notifications

The app records how it is used — for example which screens you open, when you start, cancel or publish a take, whether you allowed the microphone or speech recognition, and how long processing takes — together with a random identifier created on your device and, once you sign in, your account. We use this only to understand and improve Freestyles. It is never shared with advertisers and never used to track you across other apps or websites.

If you turn notifications on, we store the push token Apple issues for your device so we can deliver them. Turning notifications off in Settings removes it. Deleting your account deletes all of the above.

Our website, tryfreestyles.app, records page views in the same way and, if you sign up for updates there, the email address you enter. You can ask us to remove it at any time using the contact below.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the app's features
• Process and store your audio recordings
• Generate transcriptions of your freestyles
• Enable social features (feed, likes, comments, saves)
• Analyze and score your performances (rhyme detection, timing analysis)
• Improve the app and fix bugs
• Understand which features are used and where people get stuck, using the usage data described above
• Deliver the notifications you turned on
• Communicate with you about your account

3. Audio Processing

Your audio recordings are processed as follows:

• Transcription - Performed on your device using Apple's Speech Recognition framework. Audio is not sent to external transcription services.
• Storage - Audio files are stored securely on our servers
• Analysis - We analyze audio for beat synchronization, rhyme patterns, and performance scoring
• Vocal Processing - We may process audio to separate vocals for analysis purposes

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

• Service providers - Cloud storage and infrastructure providers who help us operate the app
• Other users - Content you mark as public (freestyles, profile info) is visible to other users
• Legal requirements - When required by law or to protect our rights

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Apple - Sign In with Apple for authentication
• Cloud Storage - For storing audio files securely

6. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

• Your profile information is deleted
• Your freestyles and associated data are deleted
• Your comments and social interactions are removed

Some data may be retained in backups for a limited period for security and legal purposes.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access - View the personal data we have about you
• Delete - Request deletion of your account and data
• Privacy controls - Set your freestyles as private or public
• Profile visibility - Control whether your profile stats are public

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure authentication using industry-standard protocols
• Access controls and monitoring

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

9. Children's Privacy

Freestyles is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date.
